What Is IV Therapy?

Nutrients Delivered Directly Into Your Bloodstream

IV (intravenous) therapy delivers fluids, vitamins, minerals, and medications directly into a vein, bypassing the digestive system entirely. This means your body absorbs close to 100 percent of what is administered, compared to just 20-50 percent from oral supplements.

At Mountain Ridge Wellness, all IV therapy is performed in a private treatment room by a licensed Registered Nurse following BC College of Nursing Professionals standards. Every patient receives a pre-screening assessment before their first session.

IV Therapy Treatments Available in Maple Ridge

Three evidence-based intravenous treatments, each tailored to your health goals and administered by a Registered Nurse working alongside an MD and Naturopath.

No referral required

IV Hydration Drip

Rapid, effective rehydration using isotonic saline solution with electrolytes. Ideal for fatigue, dehydration, post-exercise recovery, illness recovery, or travel. Replenishes fluid and mineral balance faster than drinking water.

Duration: 30-60 minutes
Best for: Dehydration, fatigue, recovery
Referral + bloodwork required

Iron Infusion

Intravenous iron therapy for patients with diagnosed iron deficiency anemia. Delivers therapeutic iron directly into the bloodstream, far more effective than oral iron when gut absorption is compromised. Requires recent bloodwork confirming iron deficiency and a medical referral from a Naturopath or physician's prescription.

Duration: 60-120 minutes
Requires: Referral + recent bloodwork

Who Benefits?

Is IV Therapy Right for You?

Athletes & Active People

Faster post-workout recovery, electrolyte replenishment, and performance optimization with targeted nutrient delivery.

Iron Deficiency & Anemia

Unable to tolerate oral iron, or not responding to supplements? IV iron delivers therapeutic doses directly where they are needed.

Postpartum & Pregnancy

Pregnancy and postpartum recovery increase demands on iron, B12, and hydration. IV therapy supports faster recovery and energy restoration.

Chronic Fatigue & Low Energy

When fatigue persists despite adequate sleep and diet, IV nutrient therapy can address underlying deficiencies at the cellular level.

Immune Support

High-dose Vitamin C and zinc infusions support immune function and recovery during or after illness.

Gut Absorption Issues

IBS, Crohn's, celiac, or gastric bypass? IV therapy bypasses the gut entirely, ensuring full absorption regardless of GI function.

Stress & Burnout Recovery

Chronic stress depletes magnesium, B vitamins, and Vitamin C. Targeted IV therapy addresses the physiological toll of burnout.

Travel Recovery & Jet Lag

Rapid rehydration and vitamin replenishment to reset your system after long-haul travel or time-zone changes.

Anyone Seeking Rapid Rehydration

Whether post-illness, post-event, or simply feeling run-down, IV hydration delivers results faster than oral intake alone.

The Process

How Your IV Therapy Session Works

From booking to walking out feeling better — here is exactly what to expect.

01

Book & Pre-Screen

Book online through JaneApp. Before your first session, our Registered Nurse reviews your health history, medications, and goals to confirm IV therapy is appropriate and choose the right formulation for you. If there are any clinical concerns, your RN will consult with our MD or Naturopath before proceeding.

02

Arrive & Get Comfortable

Settle into a private treatment room. Your RN inserts a small IV catheter, typically in your forearm, connects your prescribed infusion, and monitors you throughout the session.

03

Infuse & Return to Your Day

Relax for 30 to 120 minutes while your IV drip runs. Most patients notice improved energy and wellbeing within 24 hours. No recovery period — return to normal activities immediately.

Why IV Therapy

The Clinical Advantages of Intravenous Therapy

IV therapy offers measurable advantages over oral supplementation in bioavailability, speed of effect, and dose accuracy. These advantages are particularly meaningful for people with gut absorption issues, diagnosed deficiencies, or high recovery demands.

  • Near-complete absorption — nutrients enter the bloodstream directly with no digestive loss
  • Noticeable effect within hours, not the days oral supplements require
  • Therapeutic-grade doses possible — critical for high-dose Vitamin C, magnesium, and iron
  • Works regardless of gut health — ideal for IBS, Crohn's, celiac, or post-surgery patients
  • Administered and monitored by a licensed Registered Nurse throughout each session
  • Integrated with Mountain Ridge Wellness's full multidisciplinary team

Oral supplements are limited by digestion. The gut can only absorb so much, and many nutrients are broken down before reaching the bloodstream. IV therapy bypasses this entirely, delivering your full therapeutic dose where your body needs it most.

IV iron versus oral iron. Oral iron commonly causes nausea, constipation, and takes months to correct levels. One or two IV iron sessions can achieve the same correction in a fraction of the time, with none of the gastrointestinal side effects.

Safety & Standards

Your Safety Is Our First Priority

IV therapy is safe and well-tolerated when administered by qualified healthcare professionals. At Mountain Ridge Wellness, every IV therapy session follows strict clinical protocols developed within a multidisciplinary clinical setting.

  • All IV therapy performed by a licensed Registered Nurse (BCCNP registered)
  • Mandatory pre-screening health history and contraindication review
  • Signed informed consent before every session
  • Continuous monitoring throughout the infusion
  • Anaphylaxis emergency protocol and equipment on-site
  • Medical oversight and physician collaborative agreement in place
  • Iron infusions require recent bloodwork and a referral from a Naturopath or physician's prescription
Registered Nurse — BCCNP Licensed

Our IV therapy practitioner is a Registered Nurse licensed and in good standing with the BC College of Nursing Professionals. All IV therapy is conducted within their authorized scope of practice.

Integrated Clinical Setting

IV therapy at Mountain Ridge Wellness is delivered within a multi-disciplinary clinical setting — not a standalone spa or mobile service. This means proper emergency protocols, clinical oversight, and coordinated care from our full practitioner team.

Iron Infusion Requirements

Iron infusions require recent bloodwork confirming iron deficiency anemia, along with a medical referral from a Naturopath or a physician's prescription. Our team can help guide you through the process if you do not yet have these.

Questions

Common Questions About IV Therapy in Maple Ridge

Is there IV therapy available in Maple Ridge, BC?
Yes. Mountain Ridge Wellness at Unit 204, 11939 224th Street, Maple Ridge, BC offers IV hydration therapy, vitamin and mineral infusions, and iron infusions — all administered by a Registered Nurse working alongside an MD and Naturopath. This is the only IV therapy clinic currently operating in Maple Ridge.
No referral is required for general IV hydration therapy. If you are interested in vitamin infusions or other customized treatments, an additional consultation is required before proceeding. Iron infusions require recent bloodwork confirming iron deficiency, along with a medical referral from a Naturopath or a physician's prescription. Contact us if you have questions about what you need before booking.
Oral hydration is absorbed gradually through the digestive system over 45 to 90 minutes, and the body can only absorb a limited amount at once. IV hydration delivers fluid and electrolytes directly into the bloodstream within minutes, achieving rapid rehydration at a cellular level. This is particularly effective for severe dehydration, illness recovery, post-exercise replenishment, or when the gut is inflamed.
IV Hydration Drip: 30 to 60 minutes. Vitamin and Mineral Infusion: 30 to 60 minutes. Iron Infusion: 60 to 120 minutes, with extended monitoring required. All sessions take place in a private, comfortable treatment room at our Maple Ridge clinic.
General IV hydration and wellness drips are typically not covered by extended health insurance. Iron infusions prescribed by a physician may qualify for partial coverage under some extended health plans. We recommend checking your individual extended health policy. We can provide an itemized receipt for submission.
IV therapy is safe and well-tolerated when administered by qualified healthcare professionals. At Mountain Ridge Wellness, every patient undergoes pre-screening before their first session, and all infusions are monitored by a Registered Nurse. The most common side effects are minor bruising or discomfort at the IV site. Allergic reactions are rare but possible — we maintain anaphylaxis emergency protocols on-site.
Oral iron supplements are poorly absorbed by many people, commonly cause gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea and constipation, and can take months to correct iron levels. IV iron delivers a full therapeutic dose directly into the bloodstream in one or two sessions, bypassing the gut entirely. This makes it especially effective for patients with gut conditions, those post-surgery, or anyone whose oral iron is not working.
