Meet Kayla Stocking – Maple Ridge Counsellor RTC

Meet Kayla Stocking, RTC

Who offers In-Person Counselling at Mountain Ridge Wellness in Maple Ridge

If you’re looking for counselling in Maple Ridge that feels calm, supportive, and genuinely human, I’d love to introduce you to Kayla Stocking, Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) at Mountain Ridge Wellness.

Kayla offers in-person counselling at our newly opened clinic on 224th Street, providing a grounded, compassionate space for people navigating stress, anxiety, burnout, life transitions, and the many ways the nervous system carries what we’ve been through. Her approach is thoughtful, trauma-informed, and centred around meeting people exactly where they are – without judgement, pressure, or expectation.

A Calm Presence in a Noisy World

Many people come to counselling feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or unsure where to even begin. Kayla understands that starting counselling can feel like a big step – especially if you’ve spent a long time pushing through or taking care of others.

Kayla’s presence in session is often described as calm, insightful, and deeply compassionate. Clients frequently share that they feel truly listened to – not analyzed or rushed – but seen and respected in what they’re going through. Her goal is not to “fix” you, but to help you feel supported as you explore your experiences, emotions, and patterns at your own pace.

At Mountain Ridge Wellness, Kayla’s counselling sessions offer a quiet place to slow down, breathe, and reconnect – something many people don’t realize they’ve been missing until they experience it.

Counselling for Anxiety, Stress, and Burnout

A large part of Kayla’s work focuses on anxiety, stress, and burnout – concerns that are increasingly common in today’s fast-paced, high-pressure world.

Stress doesn’t just stay in the mind. It often shows up in the body as tension, fatigue, shallow breathing, disrupted sleep, or chronic discomfort. Kayla works from a trauma-informed and nervous-system-aware perspective, helping clients better understand how stress affects both emotional and physical well-being.

Rather than offering quick solutions or surface-level coping strategies, counselling with Kayla creates space to:

  • Explore what’s contributing to ongoing stress or anxiety
  • Build awareness of nervous system responses
  • Develop tools for grounding, regulation, and self-compassion
  • Gently shift patterns that no longer serve you

For many clients, counselling becomes a place where they finally feel safe enough to pause.

Supporting Life Transitions and Emotional Overload

Life transitions (even positive ones) can be incredibly destabilizing. Changes in relationships, careers, health, identity, or family dynamics often bring up uncertainty, grief, or self-doubt.

Kayla supports clients through life transitions by helping them make sense of what they’re experiencing, honour what they’re leaving behind, and build resilience for what’s ahead. Sessions are collaborative and paced intentionally, allowing insight to emerge naturally rather than being forced.

Kayla works with:

  • Adults
  • Youth 13 years and older
  • Couples

Her approach is inclusive, respectful, and tailored to each person’s unique context and lived experience.

Trauma-Informed, Client-Centred Care

Kayla practices from a trauma-informed, client-centred framework, meaning safety, consent, and choice are central to the therapeutic relationship. She does not diagnose or label clients, but instead focuses on understanding experiences, patterns, and strengths.

This approach is especially important for individuals who have previously felt misunderstood, dismissed, or judged in healthcare or personal relationships. Many clients share that working with Kayla feels different – more spacious, more validating, and more attuned to what they actually need.

Counselling is not about reliving the past; it’s about building capacity in the present.

Counselling as Part of Whole-Person Care

One of the unique benefits of receiving counselling at Mountain Ridge Wellness is the opportunity for truly collaborative, multidisciplinary care.

Stress and trauma often manifest physically – as neck and shoulder tension, headaches, chronic pain, digestive issues, or difficulty relaxing. Kayla works alongside chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and other practitioners at the clinic to support the whole person.

By addressing emotional stressors and nervous system dysregulation through counselling, many clients find that:

  • Their bodies respond more effectively to physical treatments
  • Muscle tension decreases more readily
  • Movement and mobility improve
  • Other therapies feel more beneficial and longer-lasting

This integrated approach allows care to unfold more gently and sustainably.

A Welcoming Space at Mountain Ridge Wellness

Mountain Ridge Wellness is proud to offer a new, welcoming clinic environment designed to feel calm, comfortable, and supportive from the moment you walk in. Kayla’s counselling sessions take place in a quiet, private space where clients are encouraged to show up as they are – no performance required.

Kayla is currently welcoming new in-person counselling clients from Maple Ridge, as well as nearby communities including Pitt Meadows, Mission, Port Coquitlam, and Walnut Grove.
