Joshua Speiss, RMT
Registered Massage Therapist — Mountain Ridge Wellness
Finding the Root Cause, Not Just the Symptom
Josh grew up in Maple Ridge playing hockey and competitive Team BC baseball — a background that sparked an early fascination with movement, injury rehabilitation, and human performance. After experiencing physiotherapy firsthand for his own sports injuries, he became determined to help others the same way, completing his RMT diploma at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT) and beginning practice in 2022.
What sets Josh apart is his commitment to advanced neurofunctional techniques that go beyond symptom relief. Using approaches like Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (P-DTR), NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT), and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS), Josh looks beyond the site of pain to identify the root cause of dysfunction within the nervous system — helping patients achieve long-term, sustainable change rather than temporary relief.
Patients appreciate Josh’s clinical precision, sports-focused perspective, and his dedication to making treatment a collaborative experience. Whether you are recovering from a sports injury, managing chronic dysfunction, or working toward a performance goal, Josh builds treatment plans that address where the problem actually starts.

Who Josh Works With
Sports Injury & Rehabilitation
From acute sprains to overuse injuries, Josh combines his athletic background with clinical neurofunctional assessment to support faster, more complete recovery.
Chronic Pain & Dysfunction
For patients whose pain has persisted despite previous treatment, Josh’s root-cause approach identifies compensatory patterns and nervous system contributors that standard massage often misses.
Athletic Performance
Performance-focused massage and neurofunctional work for athletes at all levels — improving movement efficiency, addressing imbalances, and reducing injury risk.
ICBC & Motor Vehicle Accidents
Registered massage therapy for patients recovering from motor vehicle accidents through ICBC. Josh works to restore function and manage pain during recovery.
Neurofunctional Assessment
Using P-DTR, NKT, and DNS to evaluate how the nervous system is organizing movement and pain — identifying dysfunctional patterns so treatment addresses the actual source.
General Wellness & Maintenance
Ongoing massage for clients who want to maintain mobility, manage accumulated tension, and support their overall physical health between more active phases of care.
How Josh Works
Josh blends foundational massage therapy with advanced neurofunctional methods, tailoring the approach to what each patient actually needs.
P-DTR
Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex — a neurological assessment and treatment method that identifies and resets dysfunctional receptor inputs contributing to pain and movement problems.
NKT
NeuroKinetic Therapy — identifies compensatory movement patterns by testing specific motor control relationships, then uses targeted treatment to restore proper muscle coordination.
DNS
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization — based on developmental movement patterns, DNS restores proper deep stabilization and movement coordination at a neurological level.
Deep Tissue Massage
Firm, focused pressure applied to deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to release chronic tension, adhesions, and areas of restricted mobility.
Sports Massage
Techniques designed to prepare the body for performance, accelerate recovery, and address the specific demands of athletic training and competition.
Swedish & Relaxation
Foundational therapeutic massage techniques for general tension relief, circulation, and whole-body relaxation — adapted as a component of Josh’s broader treatment approach.
